What we see:

• A lymphoid population is present and predominated by intermediate sized lymphocytes. These lymphocytes frequently contain a focal area of cytoplasmic, pink granulation. The granules vary from pinpoint to more globular. 
• There are low numbers of small lymphocytes scattered throughout the slide. 

• Interpretation: Granular lymphoma
  
  

Let's talk about this case...

• The predominance of granular lymphocytes is consistent with granular lymphoma. 
• Granular lymphocytes are normally seen in very low numbers, and often are only noted occasionally in blood smears (rare to see them in tissue aspirates). So, what we see here is definitely an abnormal finding! 
• The intestinal thickening was not aspirated, but it is presumed that the lymphoma originated in the intestine (which is the most common site of origin for granular lymphoma in cats) and then spread to the lymph node.
